Tigers

October 4th, 2022

Dear Marceline R-V Community,

We are in the seventh week of school and it has been an eventful start. With so much going on, I wanted to send out an update to keep everyone informed.

News/Updates:

Parent-Teacher Conferences

P/T Conferences are on Thursday, October 20th from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. There will be no school on October 20th or 21st. If you have not received specific information about conference time(s) then that information will be coming soon.

Food Service Update

At the September regular Board of Education meeting, the board voted in favor of bringing in OPAA! Food Management Inc. as the Marceline R-V School District's food service provider. This change will officially occur on November 1, 2022. Ultimately, this will provide the students with more food options each day. The menu will be monthly and digital which will allow everyone to see photos of what is offered for breakfast and lunch each day. On top of these options, there will also be an ‘a la carte'  offered to students in grades 6-12.

STARR Students/Students of the Week

We are very proud of our students and many of them have been recognized weekly ad STARR Students at Walt Disney Elementary and Students of the Week at the MS/HS. Keep your eyes on our school Facebook page as those students are recognized weekly.

Appointment of New School Board Member

As posted a few weeks ago, the Marceline R-V Board of Education officially appointed Josh Moore to the school board at the regular meeting on September 19th. Please help us welcome him to the Marceline R-V Board of Education.

I would like to thank Kim Corbin for her many years of service to the Marceline R-V School District as a member of the Board of Education.

Sports/Activities Update

Cheerleading - The varsity cheerleading team recently took third place at the MCCA Regionals which qualified them for the state competition in December. If you go to the varsity and JV football games you will witness our cheerleaders working hard to keep the crowd pumped up. Our MS cheerleading team also does a great job at the MS football games.

Golf - Our girls golf team is having a great season. As a team, they were the LCC Conference Champs, and individually Tess Sheerman won the conference tournament and Jada Taylor was the runner-up. The team competes in Districts on Thursday, 10/6 at Chillicothe.

Varsity Football - The varsity football team is currently 2-4 with two consecutive wins. They look to continue their winning streak at Chester Ray Stadium against Scotland County on Friday, 10/7 at 7:00 p.m.

JV Football - The JV football team is 5-1 on the year and also looks to continue their winning ways next Monday, 10/10 at Chester Ray Stadium against Harrisburg/Salisbury at 6:00 p.m.

MS Football - The MS football team is 3-1 on the season. After losing a very close game to South Shelby in week one, they have won three straight games and look to continue that winning streak tonight at Chester Ray Stadium against Westran at 6:00 p.m.

Varsity Softball - The varsity softball team is 17-5 on the season. Last evening, in an 18-0 victory over Trenton, the team collectively hit seven home runs which is a school record and ties for a state record for home runs in a single game. Also, Ireland Bloss broke the school’s career home run record with 19 and she is only a junior. The team plays tonight at Knox County at 5:00 p.m. They also earned the number one seed for Class 2, District 6. They will play the winner of Penney vs. Trenton on October 13th at 5:30 p.m. at Putnam County.

JV Softball -  The JV softball team is 13-4-2 on the season. Last evening, they tied Trenton 4-4. They do not have a game tonight in Knox County but will play again at Macon on Thursday.

I want to congratulate all of our students on their efforts and wish them good luck moving forward. Ultimately, a lot of hard work is being put in by the students, staff, and administration to make this school year successful thus far. As always, Go Tigers!

Respectfully,

Dr. Zach Bruner, Superintendent
